  • Bummed!

Date: 2005.03.21 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 0

I’m bummed out today, I havn’t made as much progress as I wanted on the sweater. I seem to be plagued by sinus headaches thanks to spring pollen apparently! It’s slowing me down!
That and having my parents in town! But just because it’s not where I want to be with it, doesn’t mean that there is no progress…

    Don't mind the mess!

I am also bummed after watching a Discovery Times program the other night. It was all about the street orphans in North Korea. It was awful! It made me want to hop on a plane, fight my way through legions of North Korean soldiers and snatch up all those poor little kids and bring them home with me! They are out there in the streets, some with shoes, some with one shoe.. some with no shoes.. no food, drinking water out of mud puddles.. The man who brought the videos out risked his own life to do it..
I mean..my kids the only thing they have to worry about is what gameto play next on the computer!

    Warm house and bare feet!

So I am deterimined to start doing something with my knitting. I realise there is really no chance of getting anything sent to N. Korea, so I am looking for something else to do. After the sweater is cast off I plan to make up a couple of patterns for hats and such for charities, and set something up and going.

So look for some new free patterns for that in a few weeks!

  • Rumours of Spring and the end of wonder..

Date: 2005.03.20 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 0

Well it’s officially spring:mrgreen: That is to say, when we turn the children out of doors and let them roam!
    It's warm!
It is also the time of Easter! A great time! I have a replacement for the tape Julian destroyed, so the Easter solo is saved! It sounds like the whole Easter morning service is shaping up to be a pretty spectacular one.

Jaxom has figured something out.. being nine now, the time when the brain undergoes a monumental change..he is bound to do that.. He looked a round at the Easter things at Walmart and declared: That’s what they do! Mom and Dad trick us about the Easter bunny by buying Easter things at the store! Why else would they have all this stuff??

Ah well.. one down.. I still have three left! Three blissfully young, fanciful and wonder filled children left.. I suppose there are new adventures ahead for Jaxom.. however grounded in reality.

Like when they piled up all the pillows in the hallway, in a row and I asked them to clean the mess up, and he declared.. ‘It’s not a mess! It’s ART!’ Woosh! I sure wish I had pulled that one out of my hat when I was nine… ah well..

  • Is this thing on?

Date: 2005.03.19 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 0

Well hopefully you can hear me.. I went out and got some yummy goodies for my secret pal today!!! The final piece for the package so I need to get it together and send it out. Something yummy and something inspiring!!
Spent most of the day shopping, for what? I don’t know! Azia went with me. She got a dress, she got a toy with her birthday money… what did I get.. I got to return extra yarn from the book samples… I guess I did get some pants.. but that is just so utilitarian it’s hardly worth mentioning!
This blog seems to be a Cheshire Blog.. it keeps dissapearing on a whim. Hopefully I won’t have to redo this post! I am saving it as a draft till Brian gives me the ok, that my blog is restored.
My legs hurt from shopping and all I want to do is sit and Knit…

  • Doing the Math!

Date: 2005.03.16 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 1

Well upon measuring it looks like I am close, but will have to add acouple of rows to my original estimate.
Progress has been slow due to a couple of head splitting migraines and massive reoganiszation a little housecleaning to get ready for my parents visit . They arrived EARLY this morning.. just after midnight so I got some knitting time in, I am on row 91, of about 114. So I am getting there! After that it will be about 52 rows of working it flat for the part that attatches to the body of the sweater. Then Voila! 1/3 of the sweater done! (I have a feeling I won’t make it for Easter.. I better do some shopping!)
No pictures today I will try to get one taken once I get to the flat part.
I am also thinking that the sleeves should be done top down so I am decreasing rather than increasing, at each increase there is a small gap, that I don’t know how to fix. I am not sure whether I will have to get the crochet hook after it or just see what it does during blocking.. But I know that if I had done it top down, and decreased I wouldn’t have this problem! So that will be a change in the pattern.. More on it later.. and something else that is really tugging on me!

  • 3/4 Sleeve!

Date: 2005.03.12 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 1

    Well I am getting there..

Man take the picture this thing is getting heavy!!

Azia is my faithful row counter! So I am about 3/4 of the way there.. I might have to make some adjustments.. but that’s just math! By the way that is my 50¢ alpaca/lambswool sweater I am wearing in that shot! Love it!

On other fronts here is my tape..
    Oh NO!

Yep the music I am supposed to sing wearing this beautiful sweater on Easter morning at church..

I was upstairs helping the kids sort out toys, and Julian was.. downstairs..
You get the picture. This time it wasn’t the tape recorder that did it!

Oh well the store has 4 more copies of the same music, not the exact same thing but it will do! So I need to get the sweater done! Got to have something as pretty as the song!

Did I mention that my tape measure now starts at two? Yep.. the munchkin got that too! He just loves snipping things with scissors! Makes the math a bit more challenging! and Caleb spent the better part of the day pulling books off the shelf again! But he later made up for it by helping me unload the dishwasher! So I guess I am lucky I got as much done on the sleeve as I did!
Ah well.. tommorrow is another day!

  • Decisions Decisions..

Date: 2005.03.11 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 1

Well I can’t decide.. should I make the sweater look like this?
    A lovely specimen
    Yep.. a Klaralund

    Or this??
    Inspiration from Azia!!
    Azia's latest fav shirt!

The first one is a real simple construction. It can be made with 4 rectangles and then sewn together..
The second takes a little shaping in the sleeve cap but also simple. It’s sort of a faux wrap style..

    Help!
