Ooops..is that what they mean?
Well I have knitted happily away on my Sophie bag over the weekend. I know I’m bad. I should be doing other things.. like starting book projects, or the sweater! But I thought could get this done before the 26th when I hopefully go see Yarn Harlot on her bookbookbook tour!
Anyway, I made a mistake.

See that extra bit of garter stitch up the side? Yeah I had knit five rows at one sitting, then started knitting it inside out at the next sitting! By the time I saw it I was too far along to really want to pull it out.. and it will be felted anyway!
So It really doesn’t matter. It’s really a good lesson to learn now! So is that what they mean by ‘be careful not to twist your stitches’? or is that an entirely different lesson waiting to be learned?
Ah well. We are almost caught up on back episodes of 24! Loving it! This season is really good. I do hope they get a few acting awards.. especially the actress who plays the Mom in the Muslim family. She is really very good!

Woo hoo!
Well I got 24 rows of the sleeve done last night!
And this morning Brian sent me an email we got from some friends back in PA! Sounds like they are doing well! Hi DiCarlucci’s!:mrgreen:It’s amazing how much their ‘little’ boy has grown! But kids tend to do that don’t they? Last time I saw him he was a skinny little 8 year old! Now he’s taller than his parents, 13 and wants to dye his hair black! Could be worse.. he could want to dye it green! Ahh the things I have to look forward to, in spades!
Speaking of kids growing, Caleb now is Babyzilla! Knocking over baby gates with a mere slight push or pull! So this weekend we will be moving the doorway gate to the top of the steps that go down to our entryway. That leaves the curvy steps going up ungated, 3 of the 4 bathrooms to be babyproofed somehow and the back door needs some sort of lock so he doesn’t run out on me! I don’t think I am ready for this!
Sounds like a trip to the hardware store (I wonder if they carry yarn) which Brian should enjoy!

Sophie and the Sweater
Well Stitch n’ Bitch was fun last night. But no one there knew anything more about picking up stitches on edges of the bag than I did!
So I, who in what seems like another lifetime, would fearlessly talk people (who could barely speak english) through taking computers apart and putting them back together over the phone, trudged onward! Amidst declarations of.. Oh no I don’t know what I am doing I don’t use needles, and the oohs and aahs of one of my knitting comrades, I did it! (it was easy) BoogaJ writes a good pattern!!
Well, I got the stitches picked up. The pattern makes it easy to to because there are 17 ridges so you just pick up a stitch between each ridge on the side! I started knitting the first row and placed all my markers and it came out just right so I kept going. Then I realised, the little rings I had brought to use as stitch markers all looked the same
ut oh! How was I supposed to know when each round started to count the rows? That’s one thing I don’t have to worry about with a knitting loom! Oh bother! Well I tied a little peice of yarn on the ring at the beginning of the round so that solves that problem! (note to self: get stitch markers! coloured ones!)I came home to an empty house! They were all out at the store buying Azia her new bike! So I cast on for the second sleeve of the sweater. I only got a few rows done before they got home. I should be able to get a bunch done on Thursday! big TV night.. I took a pic, but hey! It looks the same as the other one, I won’t bore you!
My last order of yarn for the book came too. But there’s a problem! The Moda Dea yarn I was going to pair with some TLC yarn are two very different colours! They are both called Lavender, and the swatches online and in the catalogue look very similar, at least compatable, but they are not in real life! The Moda Dea yarn is solidly periwinkle! So I have to run around and find some Red Heart classic, or super saver in light periwinkle. If I can’t switch it here I will have to send it back to switch with my contact at Coats&Clark! Oh well. Lesson learned! NEVER trust swatches!!!
I am sure there will be many more lessons learned by the time this is over! -
Weekend summed up
Well the weekend went pretty well.Azia learned how to ride a bike without the training wheels!
We went out to celebrate but the restraunt she picked did not save the table we called ahead for so we went to Wendy’s. The kids didn’t mind too much!
Eventually the kitchen did get put in order. Even if that meant a mad last minute dash to get it all done while Brian went and picked up our teenage guests at the church. He stalled a bit by wandering through the grocery store to pick up snacks on the way home.
We had a good time. I am still the undisputed champion of Egyptian Ratscrew! Who knew a mild mannered thirty something, homeschooling, knitting Mom would have such and evil competitive violent side.
Anyone who has played Egyptian Ratscrew knows that is just what kind of game it is!Well needlesss to say, no knitting got done. I crashed on Sunday afternoon and that was that! No motivation last night! Brian was out, and Caleb was being a tad bit ornery so I didn’t get to sit and do any work. Though I did go over the numbers and get the loom out to adjust it for the second sleeve.
Tonight is Stitch n’ Bitch at Panera so I will be going out for that. I will pick up the stitches around for the Sophie bag tonight.

Brian (not to be outdone by Stephanie’s husband Joe ) said he would be home early so he can make dinner. Then I said I could just throw the pork chops in the crock pot with some veggies for him at lunch time. So I got it all ready.
I
just loveloved my crock pot!!It’sIt was great!
Oops. Oh boy. Well. Yeah.. Caleb did it. We are not quite sure how. We just know that A)it didn’t hit him and B) he didn’t get burned because I had forgotten to plug it in. YarnHo is not the only one who wishes that steps were made out of pillows. I tell you this kid is going to be the first one in a cast. In his short 20 months he has had bouts of athsma, lost 1 fingernail, is on his way to losing a toe nail, has put his tooth threw his lip leaving a permanent scar, and climbed up on everything that is standing still.. including our upright piano. Now mind you he has not been to the emergency room..yet. (Jaxom still holds the record for that nearly tied with Brian)
Ah well, at least there are more pork chops left, it looks like Brian will be making dinner tonight!

Is it still there?
Well no one send the cook, maid and nanny. At least not yet. But Justine Raok’ed me with a very sweet comment! Thanks Justine!
I am sitting here, waiting out the kitchen. I am waiting to see how long I have to ignore it till it dissapears. I don’t think it is working. When I just went in to get some coffee (with milk) it was still there.
oh well. I think I will stay here and finish my coffee, it might help squelch the need to throw all the dishes out the window!
Wish me luck!No knitting today, I have teenagers coming! At least 4. The youth rally is at church this weekend and I signed up to house a few. So sorry yarn, sorry sweater that needs a back and another arm! You will just have to wait!

Mamma said..
There would be days like these!
I just could not wake up this morning! And when my mornings start like that it’s just better to stay in bed!
Went downstairs, there was no milk for my coffee.
Shoulda gone back to bed!
Well, I poured some hot chocolate mix in my coffee cup then mixed in my coffee and a little extra sugar, it wasn’t that bad.
Caleb spent most of the morning pulling books off the shelf, pulling all my knitting mags, patterns, and loom instruction sheets out of my binder, throwing fits when it was time to get a new diaper. Julian had a major meltdown when Brian left for work after lunch. Jaxom and Azia were bickering and fighting even though I made it an easy ‘game’ day for them for school work.
I eventually got a decent cup of coffee at lunch time, when Brian brought home some milk. Julian went up to his bed and laid down, on his own, after his fit and came back down a new boy, and even ate some of the yummy lunch Brian had made. Jaxom and Azia stopped bickering and worked together to wipe up the table so we could play a math game, and Caleb went down for his nap without too much of a fuss. But by then I had had it! I got a shower, and crashed while the kids played on the computer.
I still am not sure I have the right answer for Jannette’s question about fishto win some beautiful Kidsilk Haze!
I don’t think I have enough brain power left to try!! If any one out there has an idea leave me a comment! And while you are at it can you send me a cook a maid and a nanny??
Please?
