  • Seven of Nine

Date: 2005.08.17 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 1

Yep, I am a sci fi girl.. but that has nothing to do with the title!

    Here is is,7 of 9!

    The end is in sight!
Boy how nice it would be to use that nice 1×1 grid there with the built in holes for pins to block that baby! Too bad we are just storing it for friends!

Only two more to go and then back to the cursed socks!
Well I do have one more project to do, plush seaming finishing and some writing. But one can only avoid the inevetable for so long.

Sunday brought me to an estate sale. Where I bought this:

    The nameless model

I think she needs some spunk! Mabye a tattoo or something. She definitely needs a name! So if you have any good ones then pass them on.. perhaps I will send you a little giftie if I choose it!

At the same estate sale there was a little Llama about 3 feet tall.. no not a real one.. but it was made of real baby Llama fibre. I was tempted to buy it just to rip out the hair and spin it into yarn. But in reference to the last post, this was just not the week to do it. I don’t think they would have taken my two pennies for it.

Did you see my comments?? My secret pal left a message!!
Well in case you didn’t see it:
“Hope you’re having a better day! Just wanted to let you know that I have your package together, and will hopefully get it in the mail this week. Thinking of you!!”

    SP
My package is on it’s way soon!

I can’t wait! I will have something fun for my deadline week and vacation! Yippeee!
Which reminds me, I have to find a box to pack my secret pal’s goodies in! I had fun last week running around a local store picking up ‘fun’ stuff for her. No yarn this time round (she has a stash to beat all stashes I fear!) but some goodies!
    I hope she likes it!

  • Avoiding the sock..

Date: 2005.08.16 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 4

I don’t have second sock syndrome.. I can’t get through the first one! I keep making mistakes little stupid mistakes and it is frustrating! I just can’t get past the heel. And this is the sock I am designing for the book!!!

Gail’s heel is great! I get it, I have it down! But I have just done dumb things around the heel. First I did the heel in a garter stitch pattern, but there is an extra line where the color change is. So I pulled it out. Then I got through the heel but I had not placed a stitch on the loom properly from pulling it out so I had a stitch dangling there.
Now I think I did something similar but I can’t tell.. so you guessed it I probably have to pull it out again! So I am avoiding it by making squares..I have 5 out of 9 done so I will just plug away at it till I have all nine done.
Then the edging.. by then I ought to be ready to try the socks again. If not I have a poncho to do.. which I am also not to happy with. UGH!
    I need to get moving!

17 days till vacation. 21 days till my deadline. Which means yep.. 17 days till my deadline because I can’t take it with me!

To top it off this week has been rough. It’s one of those weeks that we have barely 2 cents to rub together. Can’t sleep, so I am tired which could account for the mistakes then I am frustrated so it just goes around and around!
Ah well at least the squares are easy..

Later with some pictures and a new addition to my knitting notions!

  • A beautiful sight!

Date: 2005.08.09 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 1

Well I sure hope some of you in southern CA got outside this morning to see the shuttle go over head!

The landing was a beautiful sight! Eileen Collins can sure pilot a shuttle!

    Come on Eileen!!

Here is my other beautiful sight of the day!

    YEEEHAAAA

A nearly finished project for the book!!
Now all I have to do is block them, weave in the ends, seam them together and put on a fringe.. that’s nothin’

Then on to the other , um, four projects that need to be finished. I can do it.. as long as Isela keeps winging these threats at me:

“Now, finish that square :) or I’ll have to take out the whip!”

Boy you know she was much more easy going when I was doing a design for her!
    Man!
Well it’s my night off and I have an unfinished date at Borders! I think I will head there.

    RUN AWAY!

  • A Productive Day

Date: 2005.08.05 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 1

Well I had a pretty productive day yesterday!

My mother in law had given me a sweater to play with.
    Before:
Well I lost the before picture. So imagine a picture of a plain old brown sweater!
    But here it is after!
    After:
    oops I think it unraveled!

It came apart like a dream! I think I will leave the sleeves and sew them up in a shrug.

I got a few book projects finished here’s a peek:

    Peek!

I like the colors on that one on the left! Really pretty!

I made my scheduled progress on the larger project and I plan to focus on that today to get ahead a little bit. So off to make lunch for the young en’s and then back to work.. a rainy cool day is good for hanging out and working!

  • Knitting and technology meet!

Date: 2005.08.04 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 1

Wow! This is cool. These are the needles to have!
Finally a must have electronic knitting gadget!
It’s too bad you can’t get your hands on them yet they are just a prototype.

They automatically count your stitches and rows while you knit away!
    Here is the article.
This would sure be helpful for designers eh? I wonder if they can make one for a knitting loom!

I would just be happy with this

It locks!! It's sold out! Uncle Tom bop down and get me one!!
It locks so my little ‘helpers’ can’t reset my counter!
