Southern Belles.. and feeling well..better?

As promised! A better picture of the beret that Celeste made with the Double Dare Pattern!

Modeled by her lovely grand daughter!Isn’t she adorable! She is just the cutest little southern belle!

The weight of yarn used in this pattern is pretty critical it turns out. She made the pattern with only 5 hat body sections out of Red Heart Baby clouds which is a   yarn. It is even a little big at that! So A chunky weight yarn is best like Plymouth Encore Chunky or Wool Ease Chunky both which are pretty readily available!

I really enjoyed knitting my hat,  once I did two sections I had it memorized and finished it on the trip back from Rhinebeck.  It was a special request from my daughter and she rarely is seen without it these days!

We are all still getting back up to snuff after our lovely Thanksgiving day illness! We are at about 50%. So I’m gonna go rest and get some cleaning done here and there, and hopefully we will have our turkey tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving..pass the crackers and ginger ale

On our Thanksgiving menu today.. saltine crackers and gingerale, thanks to a kind neighbor who went and got it for us.. The turkey lies in state in the refrigerator, the pies remain unmade, the sauses and gravies un mixed and the green bean casserole in it’s respective cans.

We are all sick save the three year old and have spent the night either trying to take care of ourselves or each other. I instead of gaining 6 pounds eating delectable thansgiving treats have lost 6 pounds..

This runs in the family it seems. My brother and sister in law have spent the day dealing with four children with chicken pox.. or perhaps just in honor of the occasion we should rename them Turkey pox.. just to make it sound a little more fun..

So enjoy your meals and your traditional Thanksgiving football games.. oh.. would you pass me another cracker before you go?

Thanks to my test knitters I will have this pattern out in a great new format! Here is a sneak peek!

Celeste, who is one of my test knitters tested out a second option on the hat! The beret option! She did a great job with the sketchy directions I gave her to start with, and she ran with it! Here it the little beret she made for her grand daughter!

It should go great with this little Jiree sweater she made!

I love what she did with the edges! Oh to crochet! I have to get that crochet book out and dig into it!She’ll be sending me a picture of her cutie pie wearing it tomorrow! I can’t wait to see it!

I am also thankful for the generous people who have already donated to the fundraising efforts at Knitters Build a House. There have not been a great volume of donations but the ones that have come in have been generous. So pop on over there make a donation, and don’t forget to email me cause there are some nice prizes donated by some nice folks!

I seem to be losing things left and right!

Well now I have lost a customer.. not in the normal sense of losing a customer! The lovely Cynthia Nettles purchased a pattern from me and due to email problems trying to send the pattern to her via email has failed! All my emails have failed for that matter! So if you are Cynthia, or . . . → Read More: I seem to be losing things left and right!

Jumblaya

This post has nothing to do with Jambalaya .. it’s just a jumble of thoughts. I am completely just taken by surprise that Thanksgiving is THIS Thursday. Time is totally getting away from me.

The complete and utter frustration Azia has with her older brother is causing schooling to go very slowly and badly. We are thinking it is time for a change. She just can’t let things go, she has to micro manage everything, including her brothers. And despite my efforts to intervene and jump in and back her down and all she just can’t stop. So we are looking at our options.

Housework is backed up in particular laundry. It doesn’t help that last night Caleb dumped my juice all over a whole load of laundry I had just finished folding and had sorted out on the coffee table to be taken upstairs!

Knitting knitting! What is that? I am working on a sample knit for Knit Picks out of Knit Picks Shine. It’s great yarn. It really knits up quite fast. I should be done with it by the end of the week.

I will hopefully get some word from my test knitters.. (hello out there!!) and get the Double Dare hat pattern out on Wednesday!

What else can I say. My brain is fried.. I need a vacation! I don’t even have a turkey let alone anything else in the house!

Oh and still no sign of my stitch markers! Sigh..
