  • Where oh Where..

Date: 2006.11.19 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 1

Oh where oh where have my stitch markers gone?

Oh where oh where can they be?

Some are short and some are long,

Oh where oh where can they be.

You all know the old addage: “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” right? Well apparently it applies to stitch markers as well. I have somehow managed to lose ALL of my stitch markers. Now this is a problem! I have resorted to using anything I could find! Safety pins, rings small toys with holes in them.. little rings made out of playdough.. (I don’t reccomend this it really doesn’t work well.)

I have looked and looked and I still can’t find my little tin full of stitch markers. To be frank I am almost more worried about the loss of the tin they are in than the markers themselves!

Brian found me wandering aimlessly around the black hole that is mistaken sometimes for our house, looking for them. I was sick when they went missing so that probably means they are in a very strange place. Hopefully I will find them and all will be well.

In the mean time, I am working on some knitting that does not need stitch markers. So all is well.

     Any suggestions where to look?

Edited to add: I forgot to tell you that I added a link for my seaming techiniques page! Each technique has it’s own downloadable PDF so you can print it out and refer to it any time you want! Just look for the link over there on the right sidebar —>

Then I walked into the kitchen the other day and saw that someone had done something to the note.

  • Not much, you?

Date: 2006.11.17 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 1

Well, not too much going on around here today. I was hoping for this to be the release day for my new hat pattern but it is going to be delayed a little!
Still ironing out a few minor details, I want to work up a second sample myself and I have a secret test knitter doing something a little different with the design!

So I think Wednesday is a good alternative. Just in time for you all to hit the big yarn store sales and get yarn!!!

Hey speaking of which. I will have a few Joann’s coupons languishing here. I am not going to be using them so if you want em give me a shout out!

Anyway.. not much to say today! How about you?

  • Moving operations to permanent locations..

Date: 2006.11.15 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 1

    That’s what it’s all about.

I have already copied my posts to a permanent fundraising blog. The House That Knitters Built. So if you are talking things up on your blog, put a link there rather than here, and pop it into your bloglines or whatever program you use to get blog updates! Thanks! And don’t forget to send me an email so you can get your name in the drawing I have pulled out a few more odds and ends to throw in the pot and they will be posted at the fundraising blog in the next few days.

    house_cozy.jpg

I will go back to regular blogging here. I will however let you know here when there are updates there so don’t worry!
It also seems I have some ‘friendly’ competition. My husband has started his own version of the fundraising blog out of his blog ‘The Code Cave’ called  Bloggers Build a House. It is all working to raise funds for the Earl Family and other residents of Pearlington.  However it might be a little more palatable for your tech savvy husband or friends..

So please! spread the word, donate etc! Together we WILL build a house..

  • Let’s Spice it up a Bit Shall We?

Date: 2006.11.14 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 0

I was going to save this post for a bit later today.. there’s no time like the present!

Yesterday, I introduced you to the Earl Family.

In that post I mentioned that after Katrina hit, when many of the families in Pearlington, including them, had lost everything they were still so generous. They allowed many people from the community and volunteers who came to help, to camp on their property. They also were the central hub at Thanksgiving last year taking in and feeding volunteers who were there in their ‘dining/family room’ tent.

    Thanksgiving in 2005

Angela Cole celebrating Thanksgiving ’05 with Yvette, Brittany, Michael, and Toby Earl with neighbor. Even though the Earl family now has a FEMA camper, they still use this tent as a “family room” since the campers are too small to eat-in as a family.

This year many Pearlington residents will be having a Thanksgiving meal at the Shaw home. The Shaw family has a lot to be thankful for. After a lot of hard work, and organization The Pearlington Project Katrina Foundation was able to help them finish repairing their house and making it a home again. A home where five generations of their family has lived.. and now can continue to live in.

    The recently finished Shaw home!

Let’s continue this vein of success! One home rebuilt! Four more need to be done! Together we can do this! Please go to The Pearlington Project Katrina Foundation website and make a donation online, or you can send it in the mail as well!

    Now for the spicy part!

I Personally*** am offering a little prize to make things a little more interesting. I offer this:

    Jess' hutch's book

Yes. I know. This little booklet is a hot item! You can’t get them anymore. So just like those fundraisers on the radio for your favourite NPR station (yeah I know you love NPR!) I offer it up for a prize drawing. If you go to the Pearlington Project Katrina Foundation site, and make a donation. Email me..Put Purls of Hope in the subject line. Tell me you made a donation, and if you like, tell me how much it was. (I want to keep track) and I will throw your email in a special inbox to be thrown in a hat to have a chance of winning the original spectacular Unusual Toys  for You to Knit and Enjoy booklet by Jess Hutchinson!

So wing those emails to me!

For my loom knitting friends I will offer a signed copy of my book Learn to Knit on Circle Looms. (Please put Purls of Hope-loom in the subject line!)

And who knows what else I might dig out of the stash.. we shall see!

I will throw all the names in a hat at the end of the month and pull one out on Dec. 1!!

***Let me say this. I am doing this of my own volition, The Pearlington Project does not endorse and is not involved nor should they be construed to be involved in this little prize drawing! If you have any questions or concerns regarding this please direct them to me..
