Amazed..

I am amazed and at the same time humbled by the charity of knitters.. in Stephanie’s words.. we are a big team.. a force to be reckoned with. So I call on you to show the world just what a force we are..

I know I have been talking about The Pearlington Project for a long time.. but the need is still there and current and is not going to be done till we are standing on the porches of houses of Pearlington..

The big goal:Raise $150,000 to cover the cost of materials with all volunteer labor to house 7 children and 5 adults. This is for 4 houses..

My part at Knitters Build a House is working to raise $45,000 for the Earl Family.

The Pearlington Project Katrina Foundation can bring this family home but only with your help. There are roughly 350 of you who will read this entry. If each one of you make a tax-deductible donation of only $10 to the Foundation and then send this link or post it on your own blog and get at least 5 of your friends and colleagues and ask them to do the same, we will have $35,000 of the $45,000 needed. It is that simple and that doable. If you can donate more, I respectfully ask that you consider doing so. If you alone can not donate $10, I would ask that you please do what you can. Perhaps, your employer, school, church, or gym will help. Donate online at www.pearlingtonproject.org or via regular mail at the address below:

Just for Fun..hehhehe.. love that site!

And I am told my BIG present should arrive via the BBT today.. hmmmmmm……

No knitting was done though I took the time to wind up a beautiful skein of Cherry Tree Hill sock yarn that sent me from a contest she had in June heheh

It is BEAUUUUUtiful yarn! But I had a headache as we drove out to my sister in law’s house, and then it was dark on the way back.. so I didn’t get anything done! Oh well..The kids have the week off from school work, so I have a week of knitting and catching up on laundry!TTFN!

Look what I did! and angels..

I did it! I spun the yarn and I knit it up!! Now I have a hat for me!!!

I will still work on the Hexed hat and the Hex along.. but I  need to keep working on getting gauge!

The details..

The roving was some beautiful Corridale given to me by my one skein pal.. so I made up a skein with it! I got 33 yards out of it and was soo afraid I wouldn’t be able to make anything usable out of that little yarn.

I started last night, I finished two hours later! I used the pattern for the H2O hat by Bonne Marie, she now sells the pattern I was graced with a copy by an angel just shortly after Bonne Marie pulled it (and before she reposted it for sale) as a free pattern from her site cause people were actually selling it or something..

Anyway, I had just gone back to the site to print it out and she had like just pulled it like I think five minutes before I went.. I was maaaad!

Anyway true to it’s claims it took two hours.. I used bigger needles, cast on less stitches and followed the pattern. I ran out of yarn before all the decreases but It’s not bad!

Fits nicely

I have also been blessed by three angels all in one day.. if you aren’t on freecycle in your area get on it!! Today I recieved some clothes for Jaxom.. much needed and just impecable! And a toy garage for the little guys. I really really really wanted to get them one for Christmas but couldn’t find one! And to top it all off at a store there was a cheerful angel named Mai Lin who helped me find the one last thing I really really wanted to get for one of the kids! Thank you to all my angels today!

Unwrapped..

I recieved a little package from my Aunt yesterday. I had this itchy twitchy feeling that I *should* open it. Usually this time of year you don’t but it’s unusual for me to get a package from her and so I opened it.

The contents of the package weren’t so special.. not really. What they represented on the other hand.. was very important.

In it she simply conveyed how much she values me and loves me.. and how proud she is of me. She didn’t come out and say it outright.. but I know just the same. The first thing in the package was this…

I made this little guy when I was 12. I remember the day she hung it up on the wall in her dining room. And every time I have been there since there it was. I can imagine her sitting there at the dining room table writing out her Christmas cards and looking up as she wrote out ours and seeing it there. She decides she should send it to me with the card… not because she doesn’t want it any more, but because she values it so much she wants me to be sure to get it back, and that it’s not lost in the shuffle.. should anything happen to her. A thought..that breaks my heart.

The second object is a Mary Maxim catalog… the one I showed you all the picture of the other  day with an ad for my book in it. I  feel her pride as she sees this.. her little neice has done good.

I hope that I have conveyed by own love and gratitude to her.. if anything this season, make sure your loved ones know you love them.. and show them that is some special little way..
