Back in the Saddle again.. and almost famous!

The cable guy came, he saw, he conquered even though our steps nearly killed him.. an now we have a nice new faster modem!! Back in the saddle again! This has been a busy week!

The two oldest were at camp so it was also a pretty quiet week as well. I got some knitting done on my Pi shawl the lace is working out so far with only pulling back a few rows so far. Then I had to get started on a test knit so the shawl is back on hold again. The mail this week brought two new knitting boards! One to replace my old one that had an untimely end… and another fine gauge board that was a surprise.. Thanks Lynn!
Isela had a big week too with her Knitty Gritty episode airing on Monday. And it took till the second time I watched it (with Azia after she got back from camp) for me to notice that my vest is in it  as set dressing!! I had sent a few items along for them to use at Isela’s request, and hadn’t noticed it when I watched it the first time! But there it is just over Vickie’s shoulder my Bolero vest!

They make it look so good! That was a pleasant surprise! It was so fun watching the episode with  the kids they made all kinds of funny comments.. like “Yeah it is easy!” and ” Isela looks different than when we met her!”

Anyway I am trying to wrap up the editing for the episode of Yarnival due out tomorrow. Some fun and interesting posts!

How-To’s Day:How to tell the temperature without looking a the thermometer..

Simply look at Denise’s computer and see if she has internet access. If she does not then it is 80 degrees outside. If she does then it is less than 80. It’s sort of like those old weather rocks they used to sell in souvenier shops..

A dry rock means fair weather. A wet rock . . . → Read More: How-To’s Day:How to tell the temperature without looking a the thermometer..

Tip me over and…

Caleb: I have sand in my pocket..

Me: oh really?

Caleb: Yep, I have sand in my other pocket too!

Me: oh dear!

Caleb: Someone should flip me over and let the sand fall out!

Who knew I could get this much stuff done??

In a fit of organization I got alot done yesterday. I made a big list for a big project, went to the store and bought the needed supplies to start painting the dining room, made a doctors appt for Julian so he can finally get all his shots, ordered birth certificates for both the little guys ( I still don’t understand why the state didn’t just send them to me.. in PA they just sent them to me!) got on the phone to track down my own wedding certificate to replace the mysteriously lost one..and ended up getting it for free rather than the 56 bazillion dollars the online vital records search companies would charge.. (it pays to call the township clerk directly), got the lists written up for the kids to pack for camp (no crying this year because I sent them to camp without flashlights and shampoo!)  and I got the parts of the prayer shawl for Kelsey’s mom joined together..

and I got these done.. cute eh??

Now you are going to want to know how to do them.. sigh..come on now  I am not THAT organized.. hehehe I have to save something for How-To’s Day!

And just in case you need some distraction this afternoon check out this site..Bento Yum. I love these Bento Boxes!! Nice for lunch, nice for knitting notions!! The bullet train bento box set is quite tempting.. I might just go for it. I got the chance to ride the bullet train while I was in Japan. Quite and adventure! (Laura if you look at this site.. just please don’t tell your husband I was the one who told you about it.. )

ooooh I won! cool!

On a whim I went on Ebay to look for something and noticed they had a little instant win contest on the home page ..so I tried it! and Boom I won $20!!! Pretty cool! Wow that will go great with the $4.15 I won from the Save My Husband mystery game! I’m rich I’m . . . → Read More: ooooh I won! cool!

Wallup Polls…

My hat’s off to all the single parents out there! The last few days Brian has been up in Cleveland for the church conference and so I am temporarily a ‘single parent’ myself. I have always had a great respect for single parents, those who choose that role for one reason or another or have it unwittingly thrust upon them.

I have a greater respect for them now. This is the longest I have gone without Brian being around.. with all four kids; and it is trying and exhausting!

But I know I must be doing something right. Take today for example. I had my oldest son (11) and my middle son (5) both sobbing at least once or twice today. All because I laid down the law.. it seems the more you say no as a parent and the more they protest and cry the better a job you are doing..You would think it was the end of the world to them!

As I was pushing the bike trailer back up the hill to our house listening to the echoes of my son’s wailing off in the distance, I thought..  he is just giving me my job approval rating..

and today..

it’s high.
