First up! Annies Attic is having a big 4th of July sale!

I might even pick up a few copies at that price!
Of course there are other things on sale.. like there is a S-WEEEET price on some wool yarn on page 8 of the sale items..
On page 14 there is a super deal on Lanscapes yarn… great for felting!
Next.. you should check out Create For Less!!
They always have low prices and sometimes they are ridiculously low!
When you are shopping online ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS do a search for discount or coupon codes before you hit that checkout button! I have saved quite a bit online by doing this simple thing!! From free shipping to multiple discounts it pays to look!
Also take time to sign up at your local craft store for their newsletter or mailing list. Quite often you will get some great coupons for mailing list members only!
And don’t forget the dollar stores, Big Lots, Ollies, and other discount, closeout stores! They are usually hit and miss but sometimes you hit on a great deal!!!
So keep your eyes open, and your ears to the ground and let me know if you have a money saving tip that will help us all loom for less!
I’ll just uh, step out of the way now so I don’t get trampled…Enjoy!

Secret Caverns
On of the places we visited on our trip was Secret Caverns in Cobleskill NY. Less known than it’s neighbor Howes Caverns, it is a nice little cave. The whole thing is a family operated business that they have kept going since the 1920′s.
(click on the pics for a better view)
Julian was very afraid of the 103 steps that it takes to enter and exit the cavern. He insisted on being carried down, and back up! An unusual thing for him. After we got past that he and all of us had a great time! We had a nice tour, with a big payoff at the end! A 150 foot waterfall. Quite impressive. Though Brian and an I looked longingly at the passage beyond the waterfall that tours don’t go through but cavers are welcome to because it is a tight fit and the water flows through there.

We had a nice time. I highly recommend it if you are in the area. Just following the fun signs to get there is worth it!
Here is a link for a little review of the cave from the Roadside America site!

Roaring Lambs…
This morning I subbed for Frankie, the Jr. High Sunday school teacher at church. I chose a lesson from a curriculum I had used at our old church called Roaring Lambs. (If you are a Jr. or Sr. High Sunday school teacher or youth leader, I highly reccomend it)
A roaring lamb is basically a Christian who’s inner beliefs match their outward actions in all areas of their life. As opposed to a bleating sheep who’s beliefs and actions do not line up. It’s a good curriculum, and there is an album with it, each song on the CD is linked to a lesson. Good music too! It includes several different groups.. Over the Rhine, Sixpence None the Richer, Jars of Clay and so on. Well little did I know that I would have a crystal clear example of roaring lambs in my own life today.
Brian left for the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference this afternoon. It is only in Cleveland, but he is staying up there so he doesn’t have to fight the nasty traffic every day to get there. So what happens as soon as he leaves? A tree cracks in half in the yard and angles itself precariously above my side deck, and florida room.
Now what? I decided to call in reinforcements. Since we have no family in the area I called John from church. He is a great guy.. sort of one of the patriarchs of the church. He came right over as soon as he was free. He came.. he looked… he pondered.. he called Glenn… Glenn is another great guy. One of the anchors of our church.. he is always there lending a hand and always there to give a word of encouragement. He came.. he knew exactly what to do, and down came the tree.. quickly, and without hitting anything!!! Pretty nice!!!
It’s so nice to know that if I am in need my church family has my back! These gentlemen are definitely roaring lambs!

So do you bleat? Or do you ROAR!???
