People at Rhinebeck!

No matter where you turn there are nice knitters at Rhinebeck.. which is good because it is sooo crowded in those aisles that niceness helps!

Here are a few in particular that I really wanted to meet!! And DID!

Micheale.. The Knitty Professer, and my blog neighbor! It was so cool to finally meet her . . . → Read More: People at Rhinebeck!

Anyone want a Louet s17 tonight??

OH I am trying to decide.. I want a Kiwi spinning wheel here at Rhinebeck but I have a Louet s17 sitting at home and I can’t justify having two!!So I am trying to see if anyone is interested!! If I get a bite tonight or in the morning before I leave then I might just do it! (click the picture for a larger view!)

SOLD!!! KIWI HERE I COME!

So here is the deal:

It is a Louet s17, I put a lite clear finish on it. It is very gently used and looks brand new.

3 bobbins standard with it.

I will sell it for $189.00 + shipping. It retails for from $285-over $300.. so this is a really good deal.

PLEASE ENABLE ME!!!

Seriously this is a nice beginner wheel. I will take it mostly apart to ship to you so that it should be odvious how to re-assemble it. Though I am pretty sure I have the assembly directions filed away I am not 100% sure, and I am up here i NY so I can’t look!

Thanks for looking!!!

Not Picked Up

Those were the joyous words that greeted me as I approached the UPS drop box.. AHH.. The end is near..

I am finally done with the knitting of my secret projects.. I am free at last!! I can knit what I want when I want where I want..

So what is this secret project.. well it’s something for this blogger.. for the project seen HERE..Yep I’m a contributor.. three times over…

The only thing I can show you is this..

Sorry it’s blurry.. it’s a little dark, dingy, and cloudy here in the Rhinebeck neighborhood today!

And thus a contest!!!

How many ends do you think are in that pile.. those are the ends I had to weave in as I finished up..

The person who guesses the closest gets the leftovers.. yes the leftovers.. of a high end ‘luxury’ fiber fingering weight yarn that was used for this project..

There is enough that one could make a nice stripey baby surprise sweater perhaps or another colourful baby sweater of their choice.. Unfortunately there is not enough yarn of the right colours left over to make the actual project itself.. but hey if you wait to see what is it you have a head start on the yarn!!!

Leave me a comment with your guess by Tuesday midnight, and I will let you know who is the closest!!!!

Happy Guessing!!!

And Boss… the package is on it’s way.. I can’t send outgoing email from here..so you should get it Tuesday pattern forthcoming!!!

Craft, Rock, Listen!!

I am soo happy I have my little I-pod shuffle!! (thanks b5 media!!) so I can listen to this new podcast!! Gotta Love Vickie.. she is just fun!

Knit Softly, Leave Only Fibers Behind

Just what can a knitter do to effect the envronment. Worsted Witch has an article full of links for sustainability in fiber arts!

It rocks and it is far beyond anything  would be able to put together this week!
Some great fibers that we can use that are sustainable are, bamboo, organic cotton, organic wool, fibers made with soy,and even corn!
Southwest Trading Company has many yarns and fibers made with these materials.

Many of the mainstream ‘big box’ yarn companies like Lion Brand, and Bernat are also picking up these sutainable fibers in their new lines.

And there are alot of other sources for sustainable fber sources in Worsted Witch’s article as well.

I find it so cool to knit with these. I need to do it more.It never fails to make a person

get whiplash when they ask what kind of yarn I am knitting with and I say bamboo!

Invariably there is a huh? moment, which in itself is rewarding!

As far as recycling. It is really a blast to pull apart a $3 sweater you found at a thrift

store and rescue some yarn for your next project!

I will be re-posting and article on recycling knits that I had in Loom Knitters Circle. And if you don’t want to recycle yarn yourself, I have found several sellers on Ebay who do just that!

 So look around!

One other small thing I have been doing since I got my laptop is that I have stopped printing out my patterns.

I view them on the screen instead. This saves a little bit of paper.. and hey every little bit helps.

What ways are you working to improve the environment through your art?
