is there any way to make a floppy hat on a loom?

can you do a like a butterfly stitch (I’m not sure if that is the real name for it or not) on a loom?

What’s the best way to keep your tension when knitting with needles?

Knitting in the round on double point needles. I’ve mastered hats by starting them on the short (16 inch) circulars and then switching to the double points but getting socks right is another story. Need to learn to use double points for demo purposes at the historic site.

Then there’s my a-just-a loom. I’m fine on the little blue loom but not the wooden one and I bought it since I couldn’t get the hang of making socks on the double points. Haven’t figured out how to use it for flat knitting either with the two long pieces and spacers or as a single knitting rake.

Sorry this is late, I have been pondering what to ask I’m new to looming (about five weeks) and I have a million questions, but I don’t want to ask anything you’ve already covered. But I haven’t read back through all of your archives yet, so sorry if this is a duplicate

I’d really like to know how you go about converting needle knitting patterns to the loom. So far I am just taking the shape and trying to reproduce that shape and style with the loom techniques I know, but that only gets me so far. Can anything really be converted or is it just too tricky?
