A Little on the Boring Side..

What’s a girl to do on a Saturday? Sigh.. boring stuff I fear.. Well mostly boring.. but necessary!  Gladly my desk is now clutter free due to a long overdue trip to Staples for a corkboard and some wall pockets for the kids to put their school papers in!

Now I I could only unhinge . . . → Read More: A Little on the Boring Side..

One hit wonder?

Well it seems that my little green hat was a hit!

It won the design contest that I entered it in! I will have more details when I know more!

Hopefully.. I will NOT be a one hit wonder!

Bookish Thursday: Going Straight

I recently purchased a copy of Going Straight by Ruth Paisley aka Wooly Wormhead on Lulu.

Buying books through Lulu is nice because  you have the option to buy the book as a pdf and download it or buy it as a regular book with various binding options. To top it  off the packaging the Lulu does is genius! It would take 10 rampaging rhinos to do any damage to the item inside! I was impressed.

I saved up a bit because I wanted the spiral bound copy of the book. I dunno, I just rather have an actual book in my hands. The book itself is beautiful!  Wooly Wormhead  does and excellent job laying out all the necessary techniques needed to accomplish the patterns in the book with beautiful large bright photo illustrations.

The hat designs are lovely and actually quite impressive as all of them are knit on straight needles. I have always loved  her hat designs, they are creative and fresh and fun. The designs in her book are no exception.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in making hats but is circular or double pointed needle phobic!  And if you would just like to try out one of her designs, then you can also go to her website and pick up a pattern or two there, there are even a few for free!

Enjoy!

How To’s Day: How to get Motivated!!

Here’s where I ask you all How to… What is it that you use to get motivated and out of a rut? After being sick and tired for two weeks I am sick and tired, unmotivated and just blah! It could be all these cloudy days and strange weather don’t help!

If Cleanliness is next to Godliness

Then I’m a heathen and heretic….*

15 loads of laundry later and I am still not done. And I have a large capacity washer and dryer. Let’s just say when we are all sick things fall apart around here.

I did get some knitting time in, in the lull between loads..

I am only 36 rows away from finishing the Pi Shawl for my mother. Considering that each of those rows has 576 stitches. I only have  20,736  stitches to go!

I have settled on an edging. An easier edging than the one from the Folk Shawls book. I found it here. The little black dress isn’t bad either, but I think that that edging will be perfect! Simple, just wide enough and just the right amount of fancy for this shawl. With the geometric lace design, I think that this edging will fit the bill. AND who knows, at this rate I might just get this thing done close to on time!!

*name the group, song and album that line is based on and I will just have to send you something! Plus you will get a million kudos!
