Wow for some reason I keep thinking it is Friday! I must want the weekend to come faster so I can have some crafting time, and boy does this week’s book give me some ideas!!

Sweater Renewal

Sweater Renewal: Felting Knits into New Sweaters and Accessories by Sharon Franco Rothschild is a volume full of sweater recycling ideas! Combining felting wool sweaters with embroidery, knitting, crochet and other crafts to make one of a kind projects that are sure to turn heads!

I for one am very glad that I have recently learned to crochet because I want to make this:

I’ll have to scour the racks at my local Salvation Army thrift store (they have 50% off family days on Wednesday!) and find just the right sweater! In the past I have bought thrift store sweaters to recycle them by unraveling them, but Sweater Renewal has me looking at them in a whole new way!

I could totally see getting a sweater, felting it, using a hole punch to put holes at regular intervals and popping it onto a knitting loom to embellish it and change it into something new! Couldn’t you?

And perhaps.. just maybe.. one of my husband’s sweaters might ‘accidentally’ get run through the wash.. oops dear.. well look we can always make the best of it.. heheh

Only kidding!!

    I love the whole sweater renewal thing!

    I myself want to felt more but with everything going on I don’t have time to keep up now (Jon’s father is in Hospice still and we are on the road going back and forth now. When we are home we are looking at things for his mother. She doesn’t want to stay in Ohio after Gary passes.)

    Bri and Corey have missed 5 days of school and I had some issues with the school on that (hospice called us the week before this and told us to come. Gary is hanging on bless his heart.)

    After talking with a few people over at the school I got it taken care of but it still makes me think that homeschooling would be so much better because of things just like this.

    Well I just wanted to let you know I still read your blog. I just don’t always comment.

    Felting is one of the things I have been wanting to try — and yet when I think about spending time knitting something and then shrinking it on purpose, it scares the daylights out of me. I found an adorable pattern for a felted hat that would look wonderful on my daughter. I swear I am going to make it this year to give her for Christmas!
