Eye Spy Some Loom Knit Art!

Stop over to Susie Macmurray’s site and check out her ‘french knit’ art pieces! I would love to see the loom she used to knit these! It would be quite interesting.. and big..

Finished Friday: Is that a Mondrian? Who knew he knit!

Ok, I promised a Finished Friday, however I cannot quite deliver the one expected..the shawl. The edging is still not done, and my youngest wandered off with the batteries I had all charged up for the camera..

So another object will have to substitute. You probably have noticed a lack of knitting around here lately, that is not because I haven’t been doing it, it’s because I have been working on large pieces and was sort of keeping them under wraps..

So here is my contribution to the  knit graffiti project that will be installed at the Soft Sculpture Exhibition at the National Gallery,  Australia. (I even had to borrow a picture of this one as I didn’t take one.. my camera batteries walk away alot.. did I mention that?)

Ok.. well that’s part of it.  Denise at grrl+dog totally got what I was going for, If Mondrian knit.. this is my interpretation of something he might make.

The holes? Well.. the poles that the knits will be installed on are white.. so I left some negative space for the white to shine through!

I am so excited to be a part of this project, and can’t wait to see it complete! Wishing I could see it in person.. but hey some things we just can’t swing!

So perhaps now you will all have to look forward to Shawl Saturday… or er.. Sunday.

Words Only Wednesday!

Since the batteries for the camera are not  actually charged.. you have to imagine a shawl pinned out for a little look see. It looks pretty good! I now have to string a zillion beads, grab a crochet hook, and go to town on the edging!

Hopefully a finished Friday photo will be in . . . → Read More: Words Only Wednesday!

Long day but a good one

Today was the first day of Vacation Bible School! This year we are doing it twice! Once in the morning for the regular crowd then again in the afternoon for the children of local migrant workers. So needless to say I am tired! It was fun though!Back at it tomorrow!

How To’s Day: How to Get out of Stuff.. you know like cooking and cleaning..

Start with having 4 kids. (By that I mean actually giving birth to them)
Having said kids will mess with your veins in your legs.
Get one of those veins to pop out and hurt and get really generally ugly.
Show it to your husband, who will not like the looks of it.
Call the doctors office and they won’t like the sound of it.
Go have them look at it and they will really not like the looks of it and order you off your feet till they can get it sonogrammed.

Yeah.. that ought to do it.

So here I sit goofing off surfing the net.

Checking out stuff like this:

Pretty neat bike, I don’t think my doctor would approve… at least not this week.

A Tough Day all Around

Well it’s been a tough day. This afternoon at our church council meeting our Sr. pastor tendered his resignation. There have been circumstances that have led to this that are going to be difficult to overcome and I am unsure as to whether his main reason in leaving, intended to prevent more trouble, will come to fruition.

The other bad thing about it, is that while Brian and I knew it was coming (we have been living with the news for about a week) most people did not know, and do not know what has led to it, so it is a really big shock.

I did manage to not blurt out what was in my mind and run out of the meeting, which is good.  I’ll try to resist blurting out “let’s keep it together people!” .. in the near future.. not sure how well that will work..

So hey, if you are the praying sort, send a few up for our church, and us, and especially Brian as I think he is going to be leaned on heavily in this as someone to look too for leadership as we figure out what the next step is.

To top that off.. as if I needed to.. I slid down the bumpy slide at the baseball park and most likely bruised my tailbone.  It sure hurts when I sit at certain angles. Guess I won’t be doing too much sitting and knitting this week, which is ok, I have all that cleaning that needed to get done during the school year to get done! So standing and cleaning will be just fine to keep from hurting!
