WEAVERGAL'S HANDWEAVING And Fiber Craft & Art for Charity PAGE

Why Handweaving?

I LOVE handweaving! It's creative, therapeutic, enjoyable, practical, and it has far-reaching and ancient roots to the very core of all Humanity.

I weave on small looms: inkle looms, frame looms of all sizes, looms made out of cardboard, The Good Wood Slant Loom (a wonderful, easy warping table loom), tapestry looms, rigid heddle looms, rigid heddles on backstrap looms, The GentleWoven's triangle frame looms, and tablet weaving (also known as card weaving). I also knit on round knitting looms and on flat knitting boards (I make hats, slippers, scarves, and bags). Knitting on the knitting looms (and on the knitting boards) is very relaxing and fun for me. For pictures of the wood knitting looms and the wood knitting boards that I knit on, please Go to the "Wood Knitting Looms" link below.
I love and support all kinds of knitting (done on knitting looms and on knitting boards, done on knitting machines, and I also support traditional hand knitting with needles), crochet, tatting, knotting, needlework, and all other fiber arts & crafts.
I fully support and encourage those who weave on the Big Floor Looms----Keep on weaving, on any size, shape, or type of loom! All weaving is wonderful.

This is a NON-COMMERCIAL site. I DON'T sell my weavings & other fiber crafts that I make. I do DONATE my weavings & other fiber crafts to charity organizations, though. I also give them to friends as gifts. I keep the rest for myself.
This webpage has many great LINKS.
I LOVE to read books about handweaving, textile art, historic textiles, ethnic textiles, and many fiber arts/crafts.
Handweaving is my "Happy Obsession". I began to weave in 1990, on a small frame loom.
Tapestry weaving is a favorite for me also.
I am also fascinated with textile and handweaving terms.
I have been inkle weaving since 1991.
What do I weave? Cloth for bags , scarves, belts/bands, wall hangings, small tapestries, triangle weavings , and cloth rectangles and squares to piece together into larger items.
The Internet has opened up a GREAT weaving (and other fiber arts/crafts) world for me! Go to any search engine and type in the keyword "weaving" and you'll see what I mean.
Handweaving is relaxing and therapeutic. People with anxiety disorders especially can benefit from it. The rhythmic motions of handweaving are very soothing.
Happy Weaving, Knitting, Crochet, Knotting, Braid Making, Tatting, Quilting, Embroidering, and All Other Fiber Arts & Crafts !

Donating Fiber Craft Items To Charity

Hello Fiber Crafters and Artists! I can think of many great reasons to donate your hand woven, twined, machine or hand knitted, crocheted, tablet woven, tapestry woven, braided, tri-loom woven, embroidered, quilted, patched, appliqued, and any other fiber creations to the charity organization(s) of your choice.

A warm feeling inside that you helped others.

Knowing that every stitch and every pick you make will make others feel happy and cared for.

Contributing to a worthy cause(s).

Showing others that hand-made fiber crafts/arts are still happening today.

If you can think of any other reasons why it's satisfying and good to donate hand-made fiber crafts/art to charity, please e-mail me here:

"Handwoven objects carry the message that the weaver weaves into them. If it is love, caring, and strength, then that is the power that is felt by the intended recipient. One's intent is always infused into the things we do, say, and especially make.
Things that are small enough to be easily taken from place to place so that the message you wove into the gifts can be referred to whenever a reminder of hope is needed."

Some Caring Organizations:

GOOD NEWS!

Hi. I received a thank you letter from Passages, a program for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, to whom I donated some of my handwoven triangle neckpieces, to give to their clients as gifts. Here is an exerpt from the letter:

"Thank you. Your gift of handcrafted neckpieces is very much appreciated. In fact, we have a 12 year old girl visiting us now and she fell in love with the pink and white one with the red and lavender fringes, and just couldn't wait till Christmas so she is wearing it now. I'm sure other children will be just as happy...to get one as she is."

Reading the above letter, and others like it, inspires me to keep on weaving for charity. I really DO CARE about the people who receive my handwoven gifts and I am happy to know that my weavings show them that someone cares about them. Take Care All, Weavergal
