  • District Conference

Date: 2009.07.26 | Category: Kids, Life With Faith | Response: 0

We spent the last two days at our church district conference. The kids had fun! Azia did her musical King of the Jungle with the group from the Jr. Performing arts camp. They did a great job!

This is the first time the whole family has gone and stayed there. The little ones had fun too. Caleb had so much fun he was crying when it came time to leave!

He helped me to my toy drop though.. it’s fun to have an accomplice!

I hope someone finds this little toy and enjoys it!

(I did end up moving it.. I was afraid with the rain showers that have been popping up across this area that it wouldn’t get found in a timely manner on this fence..)

  • A Tough Day all Around

Date: 2009.06.14 | Category: Life With Faith | Response: 3

Well it’s been a tough day. This afternoon at our church council meeting our Sr. pastor tendered his resignation. There have been circumstances that have led to this that are going to be difficult to overcome and I am unsure as to whether his main reason in leaving, intended to prevent more trouble, will come to fruition.

The other bad thing about it, is that while Brian and I knew it was coming (we have been living with the news for about a week) most people did not know, and do not know what has led to it, so it is a really big shock.

I did manage to not blurt out what was in my mind and run out of the meeting, which is good.  I’ll try to resist blurting out “let’s keep it together people!” .. in the near future.. not sure how well that will work..

So hey, if you are the praying sort, send a few up for our church, and us, and especially Brian as I think he is going to be leaned on heavily in this as someone to look too for leadership as we figure out what the next step is.

To top that off.. as if I needed to.. I slid down the bumpy slide at the baseball park and most likely bruised my tailbone.  It sure hurts when I sit at certain angles. Guess I won’t be doing too much sitting and knitting this week, which is ok, I have all that cleaning that needed to get done during the school year to get done! So standing and cleaning will be just fine to keep from hurting!

  • Bookish Thursday: Faith, Hope, Love, Knitting

Today’s book is by someone I consider one of the guardian angels God has brought into my life. If it weren’t for Lorna Miser suggesting me to the publisher, I would not have gotten my book deal. So thanks Lorna!

It is so natural that Lorna should have written a book about faith and knitting.. it is so very HER!  Faith, Hope, Love, Knitting is a book full of reflections on life and faith and knitting as experienced through Lorna’s eyes. Every pattern comes from a story from Lorna’s life. I have to say, every story is just so very beautiful. When I opened this book and started reading I simply could not put it down. Touching and poignant many of them left me with tears in my eyes.. a good thing.. and a smile on my face.

    It’s a keeper!

  • A Funny Thing Happened on the way to.. oh Forget it, it Lasted all Day!

Saturday was A Knitter’s Fantasy. It is a local annual event with knitting classes, a fashion show and market.. as well as a swell swap table!

I taught two classes. In the morning I taught learn to knit on looms, and in the afternoon I taught learn to knit on knitting boards.

Well on Thursday I had arranged to meet a few of my knitting peeps at a local strip mall at 7am so I could ride with them. Saturday morning came and I woke up at 7:10!! I quickly found my phone and called them and they said not to worry they would pick me up because I was on the way.. I had 10 minutes to get ready..

Fortunately I had everything packed up and ready to roll. Brian had picked up some nice breakfast buns and some Mountain Dew the night before.. and he even made me some coffee! After switching shirts and shoes twice( I won’t tell you what I stepped in..) barely brushing my hair and consulting them with directions twice we were on our way..

After getting slightly lost (nothing we couldn’t handle) on the way we arrived! At the registration table.. they couldn’t find my one teaching packet! Yikes! They looked through the box twice and then suddenly after just looking the booklet over and figuring out where my classes were, the thing appeared in the box!

I then figured out that my first class was at 9 when I had signed up for 9:30.. oh well. I was a little late. The class went well and at lunch I went to the market.. after all they gave us some ‘funny money’ as a reward for teaching the classes..

In the market I ran into my old boss and an old co worker who had come out from PA to check this thing out! It was nice to see them! (Hi Toni and Marge!)

    I also got myself this:

So in the end though some odd things happened it all turned out well!

  • Supporting the 3 Day Walk for the Cure!

Date: 2009.03.31 | Category: Knitting With Others, Life With Faith, Patterns for Sale | Response: 1

A friend of mine, Anna, from my local knitting group is planning on walking in the Breast Cancer 3 day this year. I have created a  button on my sidebar and hope that some of you will consider supporting her, and donating to this very important cause. She’ll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

To that end.. all the proceeds from my  pattern sales in the month of April will go to support Anna’s efforts!

Please, spread the word, and if you would like a button to put on your blog or website email me at Denise at Knitchat dot com and I will be glad to give you the code to do that!

    Anna 3 Day

Look for a new pattern some time this month!!

Paying the bills…
