Creating a doll is a quick, entertaining and inexpensive craft. A handcrafted doll, such as the yarn doll in this article, is formed from leftover pieces of cloth, buttons, string and other craft materials. A yarn doll design can be customized for children of any age and can also be created in a group setting. A yarn doll can also be crafted in as short as 20 to 30 minutes, making it an ideal project to attempt during a Girl Scouts troop meeting or Sunday school class. Kids will have a great time making their own one-of-a-kind doll.

Hi Denise - I can't explain the insane amount of Googling that led me to your blog but I have been knitting out of your wonderful circle loom booklet for a few years now and I just love it. I want to make that lovely blanket from the book and have been looking for the right type of yarn. A lot of my other projects were beautiful right after completion and then the yarn really started to fray, which was disappointing. So I was doing some yarn research because I really know nothing about it and I came across Caron Simply Soft Eco yarn, which is made from recycled plastic bottles. Pretty cool, huh? Knitting an afghan from that yarn saves 10 plastic bottles from a landfill, and it comes in a bunch of great colors. So I am wondering if you think this yarn would work on a circle loom for the blanket project from your book.

Any advice you could give me on this yarn (or another brand that you like that is affordable) would be so appreciated - I have no one else to ask!

Thank you!

I have one go to recipe that I have used to feed my boys (the youngest is now 36) for just about forever. the majority of the ingredients are ones I always stock in my pantry when ever they are on sale. Originally I made it in an electric skillet but now I dump it in a slow cooker. I goes like this:
drain and dump 1 can each of black-eyed peas, butter beans and kidney beans, add a can of pork'n'beans (undrained), 3/4 cup of any tomato based sauce (original recipe called for ketchup) such as left over spaghetti sauce, salsa, or taco sauce (you get the idea), 1/4 cup prepared mustard of any kind, 1/4 cup brown sugar packed, dried minced onions (optional and I just dump in a large handful) and 3/4 to 1 1/2 pounds of smoked sausage, sliced about 1/2" thick. I have used hot dogs, polish sausage, turkey sausage, anything on sale. Heat through and serve. Better the longer it sits in the pot. Serve with a green salad and garlic toast for a great meal that is very filling.

Hello Stephanie and Denise
My name is Adriana and I am from Costa Rica. I am starting to knit with the long and round loom. I have one of your books; however I still have problems to understand some stitches. Its easier for me to learn by watching images or videos than reading. I´ve been trying to do a Blanket with the round loom, but I am not sure how to do these patterns:
1-Row 5: K2, K2tog, yo, K1, yo, K2tog, K1; [P1, P2tog, yo,P1, yo, P2tog, P1, K1, K2tog, yo, K1, yo, K2tog, K1] eight times; K1.
2-Row 1 (Right Side): * [K2tog] 3 times, [yo, K1] 6 times, [SSK] 3 times; rep from * across.
I´ll really appreciate if you can explain me how to do these sttiches with images or a video.
Thanks,

1-tube Pork Chorrizo -- sale priced at $.99
3 garlic cloves, 1 jalapeno, 2 onions (maybe $1.00 total)
All go in the pressure cooker for 27 minutes. After the pressure drops, add in the juice of 1 lime ($.33) and a handful of chopped cilantro ($.20). Garnish with tortilla chip crumbs from the bottom of the bag and split whatever shredded cheese is left over between the 4 of us.

That's dinner for under 5 clams, and there's plenty for another full meal. Curriously, what does the "average" family spend on groceries per month? We haven't been "normal" in a long time.

Have you seen $5 Dinner.com? Lots of good ideas, recipes, coupon heads up and such. Nice to know we're all in this together.

If you haven't already given the book away, please consider me as an entrant. I can't read at the moment--waiting to get in for a pain block--and this audio book sound like a winner.
