nd I still don’t have a pic of the hat because my camera memory is full! Yikes!

Finished Object Friday!

I have  just finished the hat I am making for my friends friend..(see Wednesday’s post) I am too lazy to get up and take a picture so I will pop one in tomorrow.

Bookish Thursday: Glorious Patchwork

I made a quilt once. Really I did.. I was a young mother and I had just gotten my hands on a book of fabric samples that I thought would make a great quilt! I carefully cut out the pieces I thought would work and seamed them together with my ancient second hand sewing machine.  I had no clue what I was doing but hey I was determined to make a blankie for my little guy!  I thought it was an epic fail, and though I kept it, I never did try quilting again.

Had I had Kaffe Fassett’s new book   I might have succeeded. This book has 25 beautiful patchwork designs. Many of which are based on Kaffe’s knitting and needlepoint designs.

It all started when a colleague of his, Liza Prior Lucy, translated some of his knitting designs into patchwork. Once he saw them he was hooked, and a book was  born.

Looking through this book, I feel that I could try again and be more successful than I was when I made that poor little blankie! The directions are so complete and clear and straightforward! That’s not to say that there isn’t anything in there for you experts out there! The designs vary in level of difficulty and I could see a beginner starting kaffequilt3 with the more simple designs and working their way up, and keeping very busy for quite some time! I could equally see an expert quilter taking these ideas and running with them, adding their own touches and unique style along the way!

As expected of Kaffe this book is FULL OF COLOR! Beautifully photographed, and with clear diagrams and templates it is enough to make one drool!!
