I Took My Kids to a Museum in a Strange City and Lived to Tell About it!*

Before we went to North Carolina to visit with Rhett and Link, I knew that meant that Brian would spend the day Thursday with them, working in the office. I was a little worried. There I would be in a strange place needing to keep my kids busy for at least 8 hours… or more. Things like that worry me.. I know they shouldn’t but they do..

What to do? Well in came Link with a suggestion or two, to go to a museum in Raleigh. He got me some directions off Google Maps and after spending a bit of the morning with Link’s wife and kids, (and waiting for Brian to bring me back my keys)off we went!

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh is awesome! Not only is it free.. but it is chock full of things to keep you and your kids busy for hours! If you are in the area go!!! And the other cool thing is they have the Dead Sea Scrolls there till December 28th. Which means this is the second time I have had the opportunity to see them, and have been unable to do it!! GRRR!

So I enjoyed the day. It wasn’t too fun parallel parking in the city.. the public lot was full but we found a spot right in front of the governors mansion, of all places.

It also took us 40 minutes to find our way out of Raleigh.. we skipped the second spot on our little mini tour..Pennell park, but then found it by accident and were then able to follow the directions out of town from there!

(*Despite the faulty directions Link gave me… mwah hahahah)

  1. Don’t you just love natural history museums? I haven’t been to that one but I’ve been to a bunch (Columbus, Las Vegas, and San Francisco are all nice) and they just all are so fun and creative. I’m going to be so sad when my kids get big and I have no excuse to go anymore!
