A Little Christmas Eve Poem!

Twas the day before Christmas

and all though the house

Not a husband was stirring there weren’t any spouse!

He’d gone out explaining he’d be gone all day

Because it was annual man’s shopping day!

Don’t forget church at seven I called as he ran

But he was already In the mini van!

Then out in the driveway there was such a clatter,

I looked outside to see what was the matter.

The van wouldn’t start, oh what a mess

He wasn’t too happy, I must confess.

Off to the garage I flew ‘cross the floor

And in just a moment had opened the door.

And what to my wandering eyes did appear?

But the jumper cables and car starting gear!

We went right to work starting the car,

So he could find presents both near and far.

Off he went driving, so very quick

I certainly hoped the roads weren’t too slick

On to Macy’s and Penny’s now Ollie’s and Walmart

Next to Sears, and Borders and Best Buy and Kmart!

To the shopping center and off to the mall!

So he could find last minute gifts for us all!

Then he came home, but not quick as a wink.

Looking quite weary from long lines I think.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,

And said “Well I think my works done, am I right?

And I heard him exclaim, as he passed out that night,

“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!”

  1. Very cute! I heard someone explain that the reason the grocery stores were such a mess was because there were too many men doing the shopping and they didn’t know how to do it!! I just smiled and thought it was very nice of them to be out shopping. : D
