Lower the line item on the budget for gasoline… raise the line for super high speed internet access! He is working for b5media AND he has a corner office! With a view! I turned a corner in my knitting last night. I haven’t really worked on this for the last two days. Been visiting with my parents who are in from out of town. But last night I got to turn the heel Not bad eh? My coriolis crashed into my heel though because of my size . . . → Read More: Turning the heel.. In the car late last night the conversation went like this… Radio Announcer: Come into our store and we will help you create the best yard on the block! Radio Announcer: Our super fertilizer is on sale for $13.99 a bag, so it’s easy to get the best yard on the block. Kids in the back: Hey Mom! $13.99 for a basket of yarn! Hmm it’s slowly seeping in.. What are we doing tonight Brain? The same thing we do every night… try to take over the world. I was just about to destash all of my sock yarn. Really I was.. I am just not into those tiny needles and the tiny yarn and all that. Then something happened.. maybe it was the weather maybe it was a lapse in judgement, but no really it was something I like to call the Cat Bordhi Effect. You see so far in my knitting life I have knit exactly three pairs of socks. One on the looms for my book, and two from Cat’s book Socks Soar on Two needles. I have knit up single socks on the sock looms, partial socks on the sock looms but never ever a whole pair. I was ready to swear off socks all together, just ask Isela.. I told her that I was going to destash all my sock yarn and be done with it. That was up until last Monday. Cat Bordhi was on Knitty Gritty, and she showed a totally new and different way to knit socks. A new and simple (why didn’t I think of that) way of increasing, and I was hooked. I was soaring I knew I had to knit those socks! So I was motivated to really get my sample knit done so I could get at it!! And I did, and I did! (yes I said that twice on purpose sue me!)
These are great and all sorts of loom and needle ideas are soaring through my head! So look out. I can’t believe I got three and a quarter inches worth of sock done in one day. Too cool. And even though I am going to rip it all out to re knit it a little smaller.. I am not sad at all.. it just means I get to do it all over again!!! Woo Hoo!!! Am I a process knitter or what? Act One: In the family guest room/office. The husband sits working on the computer at his desk. The wife, stands behind him at a makeshift table made out of a ironing board topped with a blocking board. Wife: That’s it, I need to go down and sit at the table to do this! Husband: Ok. Wife: (picks up supplies and sweater, and starts to leave the room) I’ll likely be dead by morning.. this seaming is going to kill me! Husband: Oh, well if I don’t hear from you in ten hours I will send in the sheep. Wife: You better send in a llama, at least it can carry me out! (the wife exits the room) Fade Out Intermission. Act Two: It is 11:30 p.m. The wife is seated at the breakfast room table, bent over weaving in a billion yarn ends in the project she has just finished. The husband enters the room. Husband: Weaving in the ends eh? Wife: (mumbles a positive sounding reply, as she has the tapestry needle held between her teeth) Husband: Hey that’s kind of like adding the comments at the end of your code when you write a program. Wife: (with a heavy sigh) Yes is is. Husband: Well, of course when you write code you are really supposed to add the comments as you go along. Wife: MmmHmmm Husband: I don’t suppose… Wife: Yes there are ways to do it as you go along.. I just don’t know how yet. I guess I have some things to learn. Husband: I guess so (grins) Fade Out.
Yeah it’s like that. I stole a minute here and a minute there on Saturday during a trip to grandpa’s to get as much as possible done on this knit for KnitPicks. The yarn is nice.. it’s Main Line a wool cotton blend. The pattern? Well it’s from Runway Knits and the results will be nice.. it’s just a bit crazy with the moss stitch thrown in in diamond shapes! It is a beautiful peice! I will be knitting up a storm to get this finished up and on it’s way and then I can PLAY!!! EDITED TO ADD: I feel so naked! The front of the top is blocking upstairs and I have to wait till it dries so I can pick up the stitches at the neck and pull it all together.. so.. I am thinking I can play a little early?? Can I Can I??PLLLLLEASE!!!! |
