Secret Caverns

On of the places we visited on our trip was Secret Caverns in Cobleskill NY. Less known than it’s neighbor Howes Caverns, it is a nice little cave. The whole thing is a family operated business that they have kept going since the 1920’s.

Julian in Secret Caverns

Julian was very afraid of the 103 steps that it takes to enter and exit the cavern. He insisted on being carried down, and back up! An unusual thing for him. After we got past that he and all of us had a great time! We had a nice tour, with a big payoff at the end! A 150 foot waterfall. Quite impressive. Though Brian and an I looked longingly at the passage beyond the waterfall that tours don’t go through but cavers are welcome to because it is a tight fit and the water flows through there.Caleb in Secret Caverns

We had a nice time. I highly recommend it if you are in the area. Just following the fun signs to get there is worth it!

Here is a link for a little review of the cave from the Roadside America site!
