  • One more week off the air!

Date: 2008.02.17 | Category: Knitting Without Needles | Response: 3

Sorry to say that this cough is hanging on. So I will not be able to do a live episode of Knitting 911 today. I am working on getting a guest or two and will return next week. It just figures that just when I get this thing started I get sick! Don’t worry if this thing hangs on through Wed. I will be going to see the doc!

Rain or shine next week join me for Knitting 911!!

    Talk to you then!

Now I am off to drink some tea and knit!

Well what can I say? It’s Friday. I don’t have a finished object to show you, but I hope I will soon. I have picked up the Pi Shawl and have been working on it. It is just what the doctor ordered. Semi mindless knitting. The geometric pattern of the lace is easy to follow so I can just do it visually. My Mom’s birthday is in early March. I might make it. I am in the last section!! Then I have to decide on an edging. I think I will copy Kelly and do the edging from the Spanish Christening Shawl in the book Folk Shawls by Cheryl Oberle. Keep routing for me!!! At least I need to finish it before we go to Hawaii in May (oooh what you say? More on that later!)

Azia did finish something this week! She passed level 1 of the United States Figure Skating Basic Skills Program!! Go Azia!

On to level 2 next week!  And she is very happy with her new skates! I am so impressed with the improvement she has made since she started!

In the mean time, since I have nothing knitterly to show you…

  • Bookish Thursday: Mary Thomas’s Book of Knitting Patterns

Date: 2008.02.14 | Category: Bookish Thursday, Knitting Without Needles | Response: 2

If you will recall, among the pile of books I had lined up to read was Mary Thomas’s Book of Knitting Patterns. This one is an oldie but a goodie. You can tell from this book that Mary Thomas was a very organized person. I am almost certain she did not suffer from knitting ADD. I can just see it now everything in order and lined up etc etc. I say this because of the excellent organization of this book.

Mary Thomas gives us a progression of knitting techniques and then applies them to patterns in the book. Each item and skill builds upon the previous one.

This is a great book for beginning knitters to work through. I highly recommend it!!

And here is a flower I made on my knitting loom for you from Mary’s book for Valentine’s Day!! Have a good one!

Chances are if you are reading this blog you have a computer. And chances are that if you have a computer you have a similar problem to me! A whole bunch of oversized power adapters that just will not fit in the plugs of one power strip.

    See what I mean?

That’s to plug in our three school computers and two printers. I can’t even get the third printer plugged in!

So just how do you take care of this problem?? Do you rotate plugs as you need your different gadgets? Who needs the monitor when you are printing? hehe

Or do you just plug in a second power strip to accommodate all those oversized adaptors? Well here is your solution! I just stumbled across this today!

Isn’t that a thing of beauty? I think it is just about the best thing to come along since sliced bread and the adjustable knitting loom.. but then.. I might just be showing my geeky gadget girl side a little too much here!
